Amid raging protests by farmers, mainly from Punjab, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tribute to Sikh saints in his monthly radio address Mann ki Baat. He said that the country was indebted to these greats for their sacrifices and their spirit of compassion. "Their martyrdom did a great work of protecting our civilisation," The PM said. "We pay tributes to the brave Chaar Sahibzaade, we remember Mata Gujri, we recall the greatness of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. We remain indebted to these greats for their sacrifices and their spirit of compassion."
Last week, PM Modi made a visit to Delhi's iconic Sikh shrine Gurudwara Rakabganj to pay tributes to Sikh saint Guru Tegh Bahadur, a day after his death anniversary was observed.
