The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved President's rule in Puducherry. Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan had recommended President's rule after the BJP and its allies decided not to stake claim to form the govt after the collapse of the Congress in the union territory. The V Narayanasamy government lost power on Monday, just three months before the assembly election, after the Congress-DMK coalition fell short of the majority mark of 14 in the 26-member assembly after six resignations. Narayanasamy had accused the opposition BJP and NR Congress of bringing down his government.
