Bollywood director and ad maker Ram Madhvani's web series 'Aarya' has already got plenty of love from fans in India, but a nomination for an International Emmy was the icing on the cake.

On November 22, Madhvani will know whether the first season of the crime thriller wins an International Emmy. The show has been nominated in the 'Best Drama Series' category.

In an interview, Madhvani said, "I think that this is really a great opportunity for me to tell people that this is the work that we have, not just from an 'Aarya' point of view, but from an India point of view."

'Aarya' is an official remake of the Dutch crime drama 'Penoza' and follows Sushmita Sen's titular character, who is trying to save her family after her husband is murdered.

The show recently wrapped filming its second season. It has been dubbed in multiple languages, and features actor and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen in a career-defining role.

Two other Indians, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui for his Netflix movie "Serious Men" and Vir Das for his Netflix comedy special "Vir Das: For India" have also been nominated for this year's International Emmys.
