The more things change the more they stay the same seems to be the story of Punjab Congress.

The discord within team Congress surfaced again on the day of the swearing-in of new CM Charanjit Singh Channi after state in-charge Harish Rawat said that the party will contest the 2022 polls under the leadership of Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Reacting to Rawat's statement, former state party chief Sunil Jakhar termed the remark "baffling". Jakhar, who lost out to Channi in the race for CM's post, tweeted that Rawat's statement is "likely to undermine CM’s authority and also negate the very ‘raison d’être’ of his selection for this position".

Punjab Congress has been a house of discord for long with turf war between Captain Amrinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu. Captain finally resigned as CM on Saturday but that has not settled things in the Congress camp ahead of the elections next year.
