In a major blow for Team India, Rohit Sharma is ruled out of the Test series vs South Africa. Rohit who was recently appointed as the ODI skipper replacing Virat Kohli sustained a hamstring injury before Team India's departure for South Africa.

Priyank Panchal has been asked to report to the Team India hotel in Mumbai as a cover. Panchal recently lead an India A team in South Africa and has the experience of playing in the rainbow nation.
Rohit meanwhile, has been Team India's best bet in Test cricket with over 900 runs in 2021. His absence from the Test set-up will be a major blow for the Virat Kohli led side as the 1st Test starts on Boxing Day 26th December.
