Satellite data from the European Space Agency (ESA) shows that the Mean Sea Level has been rising by 3mm every year since 1993, owing to global warming.

Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) Secretary Madhavan Rajeevan recently stated that this could pose a major risk to millions of people living along coastal regions.

Global warming is responsible for erratic weather patterns, melting glaciers and ice sheets which in turn is increasing sea levels globally.

Sea level rise could easily be the biggest climate threat we face, given the large population that inhabits the coastal areas.
