Ending all speculation about Virat Kohli's successor, BCCI has named Rohit Sharma as India's T20 international captain. KL Rahul has been appointed as the vice-captain of the team. The change of guard was necessitated by Virat Kohli's decision to step down as skipper of the Indian cricket team in the shortest format.

BCCI has also announced a 16-man squad for the upcoming T20 home series against New Zealand.

Virat Kohli has been rested for the series and the name of injury-troubled all-rounder Hardik Pandya also didn't feature in the list.

Venkatesh Iyer and Harshal have earned their maiden India call-up after impressive performances in the second phase of IPL.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant , Ishan Kishan, Yuzvendra Chahal, R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Mohd. Siraj are part of the team.
