Long queues were seen outside the ticket counter of the Guwahati ropeway that connects south Guwahati with north Guwahati over the Brahmaputra river. While some said the fares are too high, others seem to have liked the ride and found the fare reasonable too. Many thought the fare is on the higher side for the common man. A one-way ticket costs Rs 60 and its is Rs 120 for a to and fro ride. The ropeway would remain shut on every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month for maintenance. The ropeway had to be stopped within days of being inaugurated after it developed some technical glitch due to power issues. The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has set up a 3-member inquiry committee to look in to the issue
