The cost of a bad haircut!

The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed a luxury hotel chain to pay ₹ 2 crore as compensation to a woman after they messed up her hair cut.

The commission observed that "she lost her expected assignments and suffered a huge loss which completely changed her lifestyle and shattered her dream to be a top model."

The incident occurred on April 12, 2018, when due to the unavailibilty of her regular hairdresser the complainant agreed to use the services of another on the assurance of the manager of the salon.

The complaint has been resisted by the salon, they have claimed that since the service was provided free of charge the complaint does not come within the purview of the Act.
