Amid reports that the govt may be inclined to grant indemnity from liability to foreign drug companies such as Pfizer and Moderna, Serum Institute of India has also demanded the same, reports said quoting sources.
"Not just Serum Institute of India, all the vaccine companies should get indemnity protection against liabilities if foreign companies are granted it," reports said quoting Serum sources.
Serum Institute is producing AstraZeneca's Covishield vaccine.
Indemnity from liability is a key condition put forth by vaccine-makers Pfizer and Moderna for supplying their Covid shots to India.
The govt has so far not given such a relaxation to any vaccine maker.
