Scientists from the Centre for Astrophysics at Harvard and Smithsonian have discovered a 'restless' massive black hole in motion in a galaxy named J0437+2456.
They say what they have discovered is 'the clearest case till date of a super-massive black hole in motion'. The black hole has been found to be wandering at a velocity of around 4,810 kilometres per second.
Usually, super massive black holes stay put where they are as they suck everything that comes in their way. Over the last 5 years, scientists studied 10 distant galaxies and their black holes, out of which just one was found to be in motion.
