Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi for nearly an hour on Saturday.
The NCP chief tweeted that he held a discussion on ‘various issues of national interest’ with the Prime Minister at his residence.
Pawar had also written a letter to the PM about his reservations against the newly formed Ministry of Cooperation and flagged that the cooperative banking sector is a state subject.
There are speculations that Pawar is the Opposition’s candidate for the President’s post, election for which is due in 2022. However, Pawar has dismissed all such reports.
Pawar also met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal on Friday. The slew of meetings come ahead of the monsoon session of the Parliament, due to commence on Monday.
