'Sherni' starring Vidya Balan and 'Sardar Udham' starring Vicky Kaushal are in the list of films that have been shortlisted for selecting India's official entry for Oscars 2022. Both 'Sherni' and 'Sardar Udham' are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Vidya Balan plays a forest officer trying to resolve man-animal conflicts in 'Sherni', directed by Amit Masurkar.

In Shoojit Sircar's film, Vicky Kaushal plays Sardar Udham Singh, the courageous revolutionary, who was on a mission to avenge the lives of those who were brutally killed in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919.

Besides Sherni and Sardar Udham, Malayalam film Nayattu and Tamil film Mandela are also in the nominations race.

The 94th Academy Awards will be held in March 2022 in the US. A panel of 15 judges is going to watch 14 films over the next few days to shortlist India’s official entry to the Oscars 2022.
