Sony has announced its latest flagship full-frame mirrorless camera, the A1. It packs in a new 50MP Exmor RS stacked CMOS sensor, and the Bionz XR processor, which lets the camera shoot at up to 30fps in 8K resolution, and 120 fps in 4K. The camera can record video with 10-bit 4:2:2 colour detail and S-Log or HLG modes, but also has the ability to output 16-bit RAW video to an external recorder. The ISO range is expandable to ISO 50-102,400 and the camera gets up to 15 stops of dynamic range. Sony says the A1 has a new anti-distortion shutter, "unrivaled autofocus", 5-axis in-body stabilisation and the "world's first" 240Hz OLED electronic viewfinder. The new Sony A1 costs $6,498 in the US for the body only, with pre-orders set to ship from Feb 25, and open sale sometime in March.
