Commonwealth Games 2022 : Like the 2018 edition, boxer Amit Panghal will once again look to secure a medal for India at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Panghal though will be aiming for a change in the colour of his medal from the previous edition. The pugilist won silver in the 49-kg category at the 2018 Gold Coast games. The 26-year-old will be competing in the 51-kg category this time.
He will also look to shed the horrors of Tokyo Olympics behind, where the then world number 1 was knocked out in the pre-quarters. His poor show at the Olympics wasn’t well received by the Boxing Federation of India(BFI) back then.
In fact, BFI Chief Ajay Singh had even stated that they didn't see him as their star player after his poor show. Panghal will definitely have a point to prove when he enters the ring in Birmingham.

But Panghal seems to be in a good frame of mind ahead of the quadrennial event. He won Silver at Thailand Open at the start of the year. He also booked his place at CWG 2022 having secured a top spot at the trials.
All of India will be rooting for him to bring home the ultimate glory when the action unfolds in a few days' time.
