With Commonwealth Games 2022 entering its business end, India would hope to bag as many medals as possible in the remaining days. Here are the country's top medal contenders on day 9.
WRESTLING
It might once again be a medal haul in wrestling. While Vinesh Phogat, Pooja Sihag and Pooja Gehlot will compete in the women's Freestyle events in their respective weight categories, Ravi Kumar, Deepak Nehra and Naveen will be eyeing a medal each when they take the mat in the men's freestyle events.
BOXING
With several boxers in the semi-finals of their respective events, it might be a medal rush in boxing as well.
Nitu Ghanghas will compete in the first semi-final in the Women’s over 45kg-48kg category.
Amit Phangal will fight in the Men’s over 48kg-51kg Flyweight semi-final.
Nikhat Zareen will contest in the semi-finals of the Women’s over 48kg-50kg.
Jaismine Lamboria will fight in the Women’s over 57kg-60kg semi-final.
Rohit Tokas will look to take down his opponent in the Men's 63.5kg-67kg Welterweight category semi-final
Sagar Ahlawat will contest in the over 92kg Super Heavyweight category.
CRICKET
India will take on England in the Women's cricket semi-final match at 3:30 PM. A win will assure the Women in Blue of at least a silver.
HOCKEY
Indian Men's hockey team will lock horns with South Africa in the semi-final and will look to secure a medal. The match starts at 10:30 pm IST.
