CWG: Gururaja Poojary wins bronze in weightlifting - India’s second medal of the day

India’s Gururaja Poojary won India’s second medal of the day, taking home the bronze in the 61 kg category in men’s weightlifting.

Gururaja, who lifted 118 kg in the Snatch category, finished with a total weight of 269 kg after lifting 151 kg in the Clean and Jerk event.

The Karnataka-born weightlifter edged Canada’s Youri Simard by a solitary kilo to finish 3rd in an event which was won by another Malaysian weightlifter in Aznil Bidin.

Gururaja’s medal made it two medals in two weightlifting events for India on Saturday, with Sanket Sargar also winning a silver earlier in the day.
