Commonwealth Games 2022 : The 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games will kick start on July 28 (India time) with a grand opening ceremony at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. Music band Destroyers will enthrall the 30,000 fans during the opening ceremony, which starts at 11:30 pm Indian Standard Time.
Birmingham 2022 will see around 5000 athletes from 72 countries competing for podium finishes, starting July 29.
After finishing third in the medals tally in the previous edition, India will be hoping for yet another superb show at the quadrennial event.

With 215-member strong contingent, shuttler PV Sindhu, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Ravi Dahiya along with paddler Manika Batra are likely to be India's biggest medal contenders at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Also, with women's cricket making the cut for the first time, India will be aiming for a podium finish. Meanwhile, India's hockey contingent, both men's and women's, will be looking to replicate their superb show at the Tokyo Olympics.

However, the absence of the shooting, along with Olympic and reining CWG champion Neeraj Chopra's late pull out due to injury could dent India's medal prospects in Birmingham.

On most days, starting July 29, the sporting events are likely to begin from 1:30 pm Indian time and end by 3:30 am (the next day).
Sony Sports Networks has the broadcasting rights for Commonwealth 2022. It will live telecast the Indian matches along with others on five channels.
Sony TEN 1, Sony TEN 2, and Sony SIX will live telecast CWG 2022 India matches with English commentary. While Sony TEN 3 will live broadcast the matches with Hindi Commentary. Sony TEN 4 channel will live telecast the matches in regional languages.
