PM Narendra Modi hosts Indian Commonwealth Games contingent

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the performance of the Indian athletes at the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games when he met them at his residence on Saturday.

During his interaction with the Indian contingent, PM Modi reminded the Indian stars that he is keeping his promise of celebrating ‘Vijayotsav’ together after their return from Birmingham.

PM Modi also took the time to congratulate all the players who participated and won medals for India at the Chess Olympiad.

He said, just like all other Indians, he also feels immensely proud talking to the country’s top athletes who had taken time out from their busy schedules to meet him at his residence.

“This is just the beginning for our Yuva Shakti, the Golden age of Indian sports has just begun! In the past few weeks, the nation recorded two major achievements in the field of sports. Besides historic performance in CWG; for the first time country hosted Chess Olympiad,” he said.

India had won 61 medals at Birmingham 2022 - 22 Gold, 16 Silver and 23 Bronze medals.
