'She is worthy': Thor, Chris Hemsworth lauds Saikhom Mirabai Chanu

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is undoubtedly India's most-loved superstar but did she just get promoted to being a potential Avenger-the superheroes, the world love? 

Chris Hemsworth who plays Thor, a Marvel character, has heaped praise on Chanu and above all, the God of Thunder has called her 'worthy!'

The Tokyo Olympics Silver medallist who won a comfortable Gold at the ongoing Commonwealth Games picked up 201kgs, which is not even her best, in Birmingham for the first place finish. 

An exhilarated Chanu, on Twitter, later wrote, 'Lifting 201kg never felt easy but thanks to the love and wishes of billions back home, every challenge is just an attempt away'

A fan, then tagged Hemsworth and questioned if it is time for him to give up on his hammer… to which the Australian actor, responded by saying 'She is worthy! Congrats Saikhom, you legend'

Now that Thor has proclaimed, can we say Captain America has a worthy rival.


Meanwhile, Pakistan's weightlifter Nooh Dastagir who won Gold in the 109+kg category called the ace Indian weightlifter his inspiration. Dastagir who won Pakistan's first gold medal at CWG 2022 revealed that soon after he won, Chanu was the first person who congratulated him. 'It was such a proud moment for me when she congratulated me and praised my performance', the 24-year-old said.
