1st Test: Bangladesh stun World Champions New Zealand at home

Bangladesh cricket team have created history on Wednesday when they defeated World Test Champions New Zealand in their own backyard. The Bangla Tigers were truly exceptional in their approach in the first Test of two-match series as they comprehensively won the match by 8 wickets.

The story of Bangladesh's first Test win in New Zealand started with restricting the hosts under 350 in the first innings and then batting for 176.2 overs in their first innings and taking a healthy 130-run lead.

In the first innings, they blunted the threat of Southee-Boult new ball threat thrice as they scored 458 runs with Mominul Haq and Liton Das scoring 88 and 86
respectively.

However, it was Ebadot Hossain who made a significant contribution in scripting the history of the Bengal Tigers. New Zealand were cruising at 136-2 in their second innings when Hossain ran riot with pace and reverse swing taking three wickets to reduce the Kiwis to 136-5 on Day 4.

Bangladesh were chasing history on Day 5 but with experienced Ross Taylor at the crease, the Black Caps might have thought of drawing the Test. However, Ebadot cleaned up the veteran in the second over of Day 5 and returned with the figure of 6-46. The remaining Kiwis' wickets fell like a house of cards with the visitors needing only 40 runs to win.

Bangladesh mopped up the target before Lunch on the final day by losing only two wickets and thus winning their first Test match in New Zealand.
