Forty years since their last Test encounter in India, Alyssa Healy-led Australia will take on the hosts for a one-off Test at Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium starting December 21, 2023.
Harmanpreet & Co. are fresh off a thumping 347-run victory over England in a one-off Test that concluded just four days ago and will look to carry the momentum forward.
Australia have also won their last Test, way back in June, that too against England in the Women's Ashes.
India have never beaten Australia in 10 Tests and the contest will definitely challenge them in terms of fitness and temperament, given they are playing back-to-back matches.
For India, the experience of playing against Australia and also in competitions like Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) would be beneficial.
'We have played a lot of cricket against Australia. We know their weaknesses, we will sit and discuss our game plan accordingly,' Harmanpreet said of the formidable Australian side.
Meanwhile, this will be Alyssa Healy's first full-time assignment as skipper since Meg Lanning's retirement.
'It is unbelievably huge shoes to fill and in the sense of replacing Meg Lanning. The success that she had not only as a player but obviously as a leader of the Australian cricket team, is fairly unmatched right around the men's and the women's game,' Healy revealed ahead of the game.
