After Ben Stokes, Joe Root became the second English cricketer to pull out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Rajasthan Royals confirmed the news on late Saturday night and wrote that the dressing room will miss him.

Royals' Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara said, 'His energy around the group and the experience he brought to the Royals will be missed. We respect his decision totally and wish him success in everything he does.'

Despite him bringing in a lot of experience in the dressing room, Root didn't get much opportunities in the last season of IPL. He played just 3 matches but got a chance to bat just once, where he scored just 10 runs.

RR finished at number five last season, with seven wins and 14 points in 14 matches.
