Rinku Singh’s form in recent T20 games will be awarded with an ODI debut against South Africa. Indian captain KL Rahul confirmed that the 26-year-old would get a chance in the 3-match series.
Praising Rinku’s form, KL Rahul said, “What has been good to see is the temperament and game awareness that he has shown in the T20I series. He has shown how good a player he has been. We have seen the calmness.”
“That has been very refreshing for me to see as well on the television. He has performed well across formats in first-class cricket. He will get his opportunity even in the ODI series,” he added.
Speaking to the media, the skipper also spoke about his role in the series against Proteas. Rahul, who has traditionally been an opener, will be pushing himself to the middle order. He will also be the wicketkeeper.
Indian heavyweights Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will not be a part of the ODI series. However, they will join the team in the Test match leg against South Africa.
