Australia's celebrations following a thrilling victory in the first Ashes Test in Birmingham were dampened a little as both the Aussies and England were docked 2 points from their World Test Championship Cycle.
The match Referee imposed the sanctions after both teams were found guilty of maintaining slow over rates during the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston. They were two overs short of their targets after time allowances were taken into consideration.
The players from both sides were also fined 40% of their match fees.
Both captains accepted the sanctions, which left Pat Cummins' side with 10 points after their first Test of the new WTC cycle.
On the other hand, Ben Stokes' England is behind all eight of their rivals as of now.
