England cricketer Ollie Robinson's aggressive behaviour after his on-field altercation with Australia's Usman Khawaja has not gone down well with former Australian cricketers Mathew Hayden and Ricky Ponting.
After removing Usman Khawaja who had scored 141 in the first innings, Robinson gave the opener a fiery send-off. Later in the press conference, he defended his action using former Australian captain Ricky Ponting's name. He said that Australian players have dished out the same behaviour to English players as well in the past. The 2 cricketers also had a verbal spat on day 5 during the drink breaks.
Ponting and Hayden have sharply reacted to the Englishman's comments. While Ponting pointed out his poor performance, Hayden called him a 'forgettable cricketer'.
Poning while speaking to ICC said, 'if he is sitting back thinking about me, then no wonder he bowled the way like he did in that game. If he's worried about what I did 15 years ago, he'll learn pretty quickly that if you are going total to Australian cricketers in an Ashes series, then you want to be able to back it up with your skill'
Without naming him specifically, Hyaden in an interaction with former Australian cricketer Ian Healy said, 'He's a forgettable cricketer, a fast bowler that is bowling 124 kph nude nuts and he has got a mouth from south'
