Gujarat Titans' head coach Ashish Nehra is doubtful over Mohd Shami's inclusion in the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to begin in October, this year.
While speaking to Cricbuzz, the former India cricketer said it seems like he is not in the plans at the moment for T20 World Cup. However, Nehra is positive about Shami's place in next year's ODI World Cup. 'I can understand if he doesn't play T20 World Cup, he will continue to play Test cricket even if you want to give a chance to young players, they should definitely consider him for the next year's ODI World Cup', he added.
Shami who is currently in England preparing for the postponed Test of the 5-match Test series last played the shortest format of the game during World T20, last year where he could pick just 4 wickets in the whole tournament. Since then, the 31-year-old fast bowler has not been a part of India's T20 squad. He, though, had an impressive IPL season with the debutants where he finished as the 6th highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets in 16 games.
