Ex-India coach Ravi Shastri has hit out at the current Team management for not including Mohd Shami in the Asia Cup squad.
India who have lost 2 consecutive Super 4 games, are now at the mercy of other teams to secure a spot in the final of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. Their dismal performances in the past couple of matches have evidently irked Shastri who questioned the decision to select only 4 pacers for the tournament.
'You came here with 4 fast bowlers, including Hardik Pandya, you needed an extra one, someone like Mohd Shami sitting at home and cooling his heels baffles me', Shastri told the broadcaster in a post-match show as he pointed out the veteran pacer's dazzling show in the IPL.

Shami for Gujarat Titans, the IPL winners, fared as their highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets in 16 matches. When asked if coaches have a say in selection, Shastri's response was affirmative.
Shami last played a T20I during the World Cup last year, since then he hasn't been part of India's plans in the shortest format.
