Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohd Hafeez made some bold statements on Indian skipper Rohit Sharma after India registered a huge 40-run win against Hong Kong in their 2nd Group A match in Asia Cup 2022.
Hafeez remarked on the body language of the 35-year-old after the Hong Kong victory and went on to suggest that the burden of captaincy is affecting Rohit's form which as per Hafeez was visible from his 'laidback' attitude.
'If we observe his body language, he was weak, confused, I did not see the Rohit Sharma who used to play beautiful innings, I feel captaincy is creating pressure on him. His own form has taken a hit, IPL went bad, internationally he is unable to score runs, especially in this (T20I) format', Hafeez said.
The former Pakistani cricketer is also of the opinion that Rohit Sharma's form has only dipped after he was given the captaincy duties and went on to comment, 'I don't think Rohit can remain captain for long because he is struggling with his form, he looks lost, looks under pressure, I feel sorry for him'
