Team India avoided a scare on Tuesday as they beat defending champions Sri Lanka by 41 runs in a low-scoring thriller to become the first team to enter Asia Cup 2023 final.
Batting first, India raced to 80 in 11 overs before Dunith Wellalage turned the course of the match. His maiden 5-wicket-haul broke India's back as Rohit Sharma's men lost all 10 wickets to spinners and were all out for a mere 213.
However, Indian bowlers came out all guns blazing and reduced Sri Lanka to 99/6.
That's when Dhananjaya de Silva and young Wellalage stitched together a 63-run stand. It seemed that Sri Lanka might run away with the match but Kuldeep Yadav ended with 4 wickets and cleaned up the hosts for 172.
With that, India also ended Sri Lanka's 14-match winning streak in ODIs
