Asia Cup 2023: Shreyas Iyer returns to fitness; plays 50-over game at NCA

While BCCI will likely announce the Asia Cup 2023 squad on August 21, according to an ESPN report, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul might remain available for selection.

BCCI though awaits a final nod from the National Cricket Academy where the 2 cricketers are stationed currently, the duo has been participating in a series of match simulation exercises and practice matches to test their fitness for the 50-over game.

As per the ESPNCricinfo report, Iyer has ticked almost all boxes as he fielded for 50 overs and batted for 38 overs without any discomfort in the practice match. While KL Rahul did not participate [ate in the match, both are expected to play in another practice game on Sunday (20 August) when BCCI will meet NCA members, Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to finalise the squad for the upcoming 50-over tournaments.
