Indian all-rounder, Washington Sundar, is making his way to Colombo for the much-anticipated Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka, offering cover as Axar Patel nurses potential fitness issues after the Super Four match against Bangladesh.
23-year-old Sundar who is known for his offbreaks and left-handed batting, brings a valuable skill set to the Indian team. Though he last featured in an ODI against New Zealand in January this year, missing out on the provisional 15-man World Cup squad, his expertise makes him a suitable choice as backup for the crucial final clash.
Sundar, who is also part of the Asian Games squad, is currently part of the team's camp in Bengaluru. He will rejoin the squad after the completion of the Asia Cup, with the team set to depart for Hangzhou on September 23.
As the team gears up for the Asia Cup finale, Sundar's inclusion provides added depth and options, ensuring the squad is well-prepared for any contingencies, particularly considering Axar Patel's uncertain fitness status.
