It has turned out to be a stunning Sunday for India at the Asian Games 2023. Along with medal wins in Rowing and Shooting, the Indian women's cricket team also assured a medal finish as the women in Blue defeated Bangladesh by 8 wickets with 70 balls remaining.
Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first. But the ace Pooja Vastrakar came down heavily on the Bangla women as she picked 4 wickets restricting Nigar Sulatana's side to mere 51. The side was all out as Titas Sadhu, Amanjot Kaur, Rajeshwari Kaur and Devika Vaidya all got a wicket each.
In reply, it was a cake walk for India. While Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana lost their wickets after scoring 17 and 7 respectively, Jemimah Rodrigues' 20 off 15 helped the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side become the first team to qualify for the final of the event.
