Bangladesh proved no match for Team India in Asian Games 2023 semifinal on Friday as the Men in Blue stormed into men's cricket final on back of a 9-wicket win.
Ruturaj Gaikwad's decision to bowl first proved right as India restricted Bangladesh to just 96/9 in 20 overs.
Sai Kishore took 3 wickets, while Washington Sundar bagged 2 scalps. Wicketkeeper Jaker Ali scored 24 not out, which was the highest score for Bangladesh.
Chasing a low total on an extremely small ground, India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck. But that didn't affect the Men in Blue as skipper Gaikwad counter attacked with an unbeaten 40.
However, the star of the show was Tilak Varma, who smashed a 26-ball-55 not out as India chased down 97 in just 9.2 overs. India has now assured themselves of at least a silver.
