Nathan Lyon bamboozled West Indies with 6 wickets as Australia beat the Windies by 164 runs in the 1st Test in Perth to take an unassailable 1-0 lead in the 2-match Test series.
After a double ton the 1st innings, Marnus Labuschagne's gritty hundred in the 2nd helped the Aussies declare at 182/2, setting the visitors a 498-run target.
Chasing which, skipper Kraigg Brathwaite dropped anchor and smashed 110. Roston Chase too chipped in with a 55 lower down the order but Lyon broke Windies' back with 6 wickets as they were bowled out for 333. In the process, he surpassed Ravichandran Ashwin to become the eighth-highest wicket-taker in Test history with 446 scalps.
West Indies' poor run in whites Down Under continues as the Caribbean nation has failed to win a single Test in Australia in the last 25 years.
The 2nd and final Test of the series is scheduled to begin in Adelaide on December 8.
