Despite a suicide bomb blast at a mosque in Peshawar, the Australian cricket team will continue their Pakistan tour, news agency PTI reported quoting a Pakistan Cricket Board source.

"Cricket Australia is constantly in touch with the Pakistan Cricket Board, their High Commission, and relevant security personnel and there is no danger to the historic tour," said a PCB source.

According to Australian media, the team officials are monitoring the situation and in contact with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The attack in Peshawar took place during Friday prayers at a Shia mosque. The blast killed 56 people inside the mosque and injured many.

Australian cricket team are touring Pakistan for the first time in 24 years. The bomb blast occurred on Day 1 of Pakistan vs Australia's first Test at Rawalpindi.

Earlier, New Zealand and England cancelled their tour of Pakistan last year over security concerns.
