As cricket returns in the Asian Games 2022, the Indian cricket board is unlikely to send its teams for Asiad in Hangzhou later this year due to existing commitments.
While talking to news agency Reuters, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said, " As far as the Asian Games in Hangzhou is concerned, a final decision on whether to send both men's and women's teams will be taken later and based on our existing commitments."

Jay Shah further added that in a post-Covid world, honouring bilateral commitment is particularly important.
Asia's cricket powerhouse is unlikely to risk the Men's team ahead of T20 World Cup in Australia as the Asian Games is scheduled to take place in September, a month before World T20.
Meanwhile, the participation of the Indian women's team now also looks unlikely as they are scheduled to tour England for the limited-overs series in September.
The Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 10 to 25 in China's Hangzhou.
