West Indies batter Chris Gayle is trying to maximise whatever game time he has left in cricket. In order to achieve that, the 42-year-old has decided to opt out of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2022 and will concentrate solely on playing the latest T10 tournament, the '6IXTY'.
The Caribbean star is the ambassador for the 6IXTY and the trophy of the event has also been named after him — the Universe Boss Trophy.

Talking about the event, Gayle said that he is genuinely excited about the current innovations in the 6IXTY and is looking forward to the mystery team ball and hitting two sixes in the first 12 balls to unlock the third powerplay over.
The 42-year-old is the second-highest run-scorer in the CPL with 2519 runs behind Lendl Simmons (2629 runs). Earlier, the Universe boss had also opted out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
With an ageing Gayle nearing the end of his cricket career, the Universe Boss will be hoping to do enough to make the event bearing his name on the trophy an instant success. The five-day tournament will be played from August 24 to 28 in Saint Kitts, and will feature six men’s teams and three women’s teams.
