Fans and experts have been divided ever since Ishan Kishan and Shreyas were left out of the BCCI central contract list. While many called it a bold move, a few even opposed the decision.
In the latest development, a report in the Hindustan Times claimed that Ishan Kishan was given a shot at redemption by the BCCI but the wicketkeeper-batter refused it.
Ahead of the central contract announcement, Board secretary Jay Shah sent a letter to centrally contracted players telling them not to prioritise the IPL over domestic cricket. But Ishan still didn't appear for any Ranji Trophy game for Jharkhand.
Kishan's loss proved to be Dhruv Jurel's gain as he capitalised on the opportunity and turned out to be the hero for India in the 4th Test.
Ishan Kishan, who has been out of international cricket since December last year, has missed the T20I series against Afghanistan and the home Tests against England ever since he asked for a break, reportedly due to mental fatigue.
Kishan was also spotted training with Hardik Pandya during his break from cricket. According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, the BCCI selectors, who recommend the BCCI on which players will get the central contracts, were left unhappy with this.
