Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar expressed his disappointment towards BCCI's decision to play Virat Kohli's 100th Test in Mohali behind closed doors.
During a chat with Sports Today, Gavaskar said that the 100th Test is very very special and any performer, be it an actor or a cricketer, wants to play in front of the crowd. 'But I think the decision has been taken in the greater interest. The cases have increased in and around Mohali, where the match is going to be played,' added the former India captain.
Though most matches have seen no crowds in recent times due to the Covid-19 situation but fans questioned it, citing that the T20 series against Sri Lanka was played with fans. Interestingly, the 2nd Test in Bengaluru will also see 50% spectators in the stadium. 1st Test vs Sri Lanka, Virat's 100th, will start on March 4th.
