Disney Star sublicenses ICC TV rights to Zee

In a first-of-its-kind development, Disney Star who had won the India rights for ICC tournaments for TV and Digital has sublicensed the Men's Event's TV rights to rival broadcaster Zee Entertainment Enterprises for an unknown amount.

Zee now has the rights to live telecast the ICC men's events for the next cycle of 2024 to 2027. Star who had won the collective TV and digital rights for a whopping $3 billion will only live stream the matches on its digital platform Disney+Hotstar.

The 2 companies in their statement said that they have entered a strategic licensing agreement where in Star will license TV rights of the ICC Men's and Under-19 events to Zee; ICC has also approved the arrangement.

While Zee has TV broadcasting rights, viewers can watch the matches on Disney+Hotstar online. Star also bagged the IPL TV rights whereas Mukesh Ambani's Viacom18 got the digital rights.
