Bharat Sundaresan, an Australia-based journalist, claimed that the Australian and English teams didn't have their customary post-Ashes series drinks.
'Aussie players did ask the England team about getting together half a dozen times but didn’t get a response and that allegedly the home team stayed behind locked doors,' his tweet read.
This added fuel to the fire between fans and it seemed that the on-field rivalry and a few controversies in the 5-match series left a bad taste in the mouth, refraining England in indulging in post-series celebrations with the Aussies.
However, skipper Ben Stokes cleared the air after a while. He tweeted late in the night and clarified that England's wrap took longer than expected because of multiple last time events.
'We decided to meet up in the night club rather than the dressing room,' Stokes added.
Australia led the Ashes series 2-0 but England staged a brilliant comeback to end the 5-match series 2-2. While the hosts managed to draw the series, it was the Aussies who retained the urn.
