Alex Hales seems to be the only English cricketer who has openly opposed the criticism endured by Deepti Sharma for running out England's Charlie Dean at the non-striker's end during India's 3rd ODI vs England.
Following the incident, Sam Billings said, 'There’s surely not a person who has played the game that thinks this is acceptable? Just not cricket.'
His English teammate Hales replied by saying that 'It shouldn’t be difficult for the non-striker to stay in their crease till the ball has left the hand.'
The cricketing world was divided over laws and sportsmanship when the incident happened. According to the new ICC rules, which will come into effect from October 1, Mankading will be seen as a run-out and not an unfair method of running out a batter.
