Fire breaks out at Eden Gardens; ODI World Cup renovation halted

The renovation work for ODI World Cup 2023 at Kolkata's Eden Gardens came to a halt as a fire broke out in the dressing room on Wednesday night.

According to reports, the fire broke out in the false ceiling of the dressing room where the equipment of the cricketers was kept. The fire department later brought the situation under control. 

Though, no one was injured all the belongings of the players there were burnt. The incident has now brought Eden Gardens’ infrastructure into question as the ground is set to host 5 World Cup matches, starting October 28.

The Cricket Association of Bengal will have to complete the renovation by September 15.
