Gautam Gambhir looks set to be appointed as India's new head coach in the coming days after he was spotted at the Mumbai Airport on Saturday.
The former captain had emerged as the leading contender to take over the reins after Rahul Dravid's tenure ended following a successful T20 World Cup campaign.
On July 1st, B-C-C-I secretary Jay Shah had revealed that the new head coach will be named before India's tour of Sri Lanka later this month.
What added fuel to the speculation is that Gambhir worked on an emotional farewell video for fans at the Eden Gardens. A report by Times Now had revealed that the Kolkata Knight Riders mentor was working with his personal team on a video to bid farewell to the I-P-L franchise.
The 42-year-old spent two seasons mentoring Lucknow Super Giants before returning to K-K-R last year and guided them to their third I-P-L crown.
So does this mean India's new head coach is all but confirmed? When do you think B-C-C-I will announce it?
