Hardik Pandya broke his silence about Mumbai Indians removing Rohit Sharma as the skipper and handing him the captaincy duties for IPL 2024.
In a pre-tournament press conference, Hardik said, "It won’t be any different because he will always be there to help me out if I need his help. At the same time, Rohit being the Indian captain helps me because this team has achieved all its glory under his belt."
"From now on, it will just be me carrying forward what he started. I know he will have his hand on my shoulder all through the season," Hardik added.
When asked if he had a chat with Rohit since taking over as captain of MI, Hardik said, "Yes and No. He has been travelling non-stop."
Mumbai Indians traded back Hardik from the Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2024 auction but surprised everyone when they appointed him as their new kipper, removing Rohit Sharma, under whom they won 5 IPL titles.
The decision sparked a controversy as according to reports, there wasn't a clear communication from the franchise to Rohit Sharma before the bold move.
