A stroke of luck and Mohd Siraj who had a patchy IPL career 3 years back became one of the players to get retained by his IPL franchise. The ace bowler had a forgettable campaign in 2019 with RCB where he could only take 7 wickets in 9 matches that he played. RCB who retained Siraj had a disastrous 2019, they lost 6 straight games when the campaign started and were at the bottom of the chart when the season ended.

Talking on the RCB podcast, Siraj recalled one of his worst performances that came against the Kolkata Knight Riders that year, where he conceded 5 sixes and 36 runs, which included two beamers, in 2.2 overs. He said, 'When I bowled those two beamers people asked me to quit cricket and go back to drive autos with my father.'
The 27-year-old cricketer who has come a long way now also revealed a piece of advice that MS Dhoni gave him which he says 'has helped him since'.
Dhoni told him to not listen to what other people say about him, and so, he said, 'I don't want anybody's opinion I am the same Siraj, I was back then.'
