Since the IPL will turn into a 10-team tournament from this year, Joe Root was expected to throw his name into the mega auction but the English Test skipper has turned down the opportunity.
After England's embarrassing 4-0 defeat in the Ashes series vs Australia, Root said that there's a lot that needs to be done for England, which deserves all his energy. 'I'll keep sacrificing as much as I can because I care so much about Test cricket in our country and trying to get us to where we want to be,' added the star batter.
Few experts also believed that Root was not the right man to lead England. Responding to that, the 31-year-old batter said that it's very difficult when you get beaten as heavily as they have on the Australian tour to convince people that he is the right man. 'As long as I have the opportunity to captain this team, I will throw everything into it and give everything,' Root further stated.
