Virat Kohli relinquished the captaincy of his IPL franchise RCB in 2021, with Faf du Plessis taking over the role for the 2022 edition.
While the ex-Indian skipper feels the transition was smooth, on the RCB podcast Kohli revealed how difficult it was for him to hold himself back sometimes, especially when the team was stuck in some situations.
'In those crunch moments, you were always involved in taking decisions, it naturally kicks in again that do I need to take that decision and or, no, you then realise it's working well there already is a plan in place', Kohli said.
When asked about a similarity of the situation with receiving the captaincy role from MS Dhoni Virat said, 'I was always his right hand man, trying to understand the game, he kind of took me under his wings and since 2012 I was trained as the next guy who would take over hence was very smooth'
In the podcast, the 34-year-old also revealed that it was he who texted Faf du Plessis to inform him about the management's decision to make him the next captain of RCB.
Under Virat Kohli, RCB hadn't won any titles. Last year, under their new captain Faf du Plessis as well, the team qualified for the playoffs but failed to go the distance once again.
