On the back of his exhilarating performances in the ongoing Asia Cup, Pakistan opener Mohd Rizwan has displaced his captain, Babar Azam, from the top spot in the ICC Men's T20I Batting rankings.
Rizwan's 43 off 42 vs India in the Asia Cup opener, match-winning 78* off 47 vs Hong Kong and a stunning 71 off 51 against India in the Super 4 helped him topple Babar Azam, who has been No. 1 batter in the shortest format for 1155 days. The Pakistan captain who is yet to fire in the ongoing Asian Tournament has dropped to the 2nd spot.
Rizwan also became only the third Pakistani player to achieve the milestone after Babar Azam and Misbah-ul-Haq. His move to the top happened with the jump from 796 rating points to a career-best 815. Meanwhile, India's Suryakumar Yadav has dropped from the third to fourth spot in the rankings.
